Over the past ten years, Cisco has been proud of cooperation with the Connected Conservation Foundation (CCF), combining technology and dedicated off -road teams to preserve the real difference in Waldlife protection. This world rhino’s day will be paused in honor of incredible diploma animals and think about our day to protect them and their homes.
In a partnership that Goyond Technology
From Kenya to South Africa, Uganda to Zambia, we have equipped 46 protected areas of connections and tools needed to monitor and protect rhinos, elephants, gorillas, pangolines and many other species. Together with CCF and local partners, Cisco helped to bring advanced technologies to areas of wild animals in 15 countries.
However, this work applies more to the facility – it is a seizure of people on Earth who deeply care for these animals and their ecosystems.
How technology makes the difference
Lorawan Cisco servers, servers and networks help monitor the movements of rhinos, wild animals and guardians, watch the weather and fence alarms, and even support the more sustainable procedures of landmarks. All these data are connected in one place and give teams to nature conservation, real time, what is happening to act quickly and plan for the future.
Sophie Maxwell, Executive Director of CCF, summarizes the impact of technology:“With real -time monitoring and the ability to monitor wild animals, patrols and vehicles are emphasized as never before to protect these iconic animals. We are proud to help build a future where protecting areas have instruments that rhinos to walk and safely again.”
A real impact on the field
By supporting the technological ecosystem for early warning and monitoring wildlife, we helped create safer parks. According to the CCF, the SABI SAND Nature Reserve remains for more than 700 days without poaching and several reserves are now safe enough to re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -re -reappearing. Parks, including Mara-Serengeti, Tsavo and Loisaba, mounted nose rhinos with Loran Trackers, transfer data in real time to central operations and guard. This continuous stream of knowledge promotes the monitoring of health and conducting and strengthening strategies of protection.

The CCF states that we have expanded Lorawan to 35 seats, included five new ones in 2024-25 across Tsavo, Mara, Lewa and others, and created a plan for success. In Kenya, 17% of National Parks are covered with Lorawan infrastructure by Cisco, which helps protect the huge areas of wilderness.

Building the future for protection
We also invest in people. In July 2025, CCF and Cisco Networking Academy launched a free global educational program for protected areas. This race, complemented by sponsorship and internships, is designed to make the local community members with skills to maintain and develop these vital technologies – helping to create new career and protection champions. Hundreds of students are already building technical skills for the nature protection course and earnings.

Recognition and hope
In this world of rhinos, we celebrate not only rhinos, but people, technologies and partyphips tirelessly work on their protection. Together we are building a future where wildlife and community thrive side by side.
